Project of primary maternity health care centre in Koupela

Country: Burkina Faso
Place:
Koupela
Section:
Health care
Financial source:
Private funds
Duration:
1 year

Local situation:
Burkina Faso is one out most starved country in the world where the individual annual income is about 100 dollars. This means that each family can spend for its health no more than 1 dollar a year.
In Burkina Faso 1 dollar is sufficient for buying 25 chilograms of millet that can feed a ten person family for one month. In many families the question is how to use the one dollar, to feeding or for treating malaria of one child.
The absurdity of such a choice shows the priority that rich countries should devote to health and food problems of underdeveloped countries.
This why a project to improve base health care structures in those countries seems to meet their needs.

Aims:
1. Feasibility study
2. Extimation of utilization area
3. Improvement of the ambulatories at the maternity department of Koupethe (Camilliane nuns)
4. Training of laboratory personnel
5. Laboratory enlargement
6. Shipment of pharmaceutical wares an consumption materials

Forecast outsourced personnel:
- one nurse
- one laboratory technician
