Existing situation:
Buruli Ulcer is a laceration caused by the mycobacterium ulcerans, which is passed by a water bug bite. This plague can cause skin, muscle, tendon and bone damage. The cure is composed of antibiotics, applications of clay to cicatrize, ozonotherapy to kill bacteria and cicatrize.
Ozonotherapy will be employed thanks to a device sent to the “La Croix” Hospital in Zinvié. Local personnel will be trained, and an analysis lab for the Buruli disease, malaria, TB, and intestinal parasitosis screening and diagnosis will be established in the nearby S. Camillus nuns mission.
Activities estimated:
1. Estimates of the local needs at the center managed by the Camillian nuns
2. Deployment of a ozonotherapy machine
3. Training of local nurses
